Stephen Scheidt
Dr. Stephen Scheidt is an Associate Research Scientist at Howard University and contractor for the NASA Goddard Spaceflight Center. He specializes in geospatial analysis of the Earth, Moon and Mars, the application of unoccupied aircraft systems (UAS), and production of digital terrain using stereophotogrammetry of geological features. His research currently focuses on the geomorphic analysis of aeolian bedforms and volcanic deposits, mission exploration concepts for the Moon and Mars, and planetary analog studies of surface processes. Dr. Scheidt’s field work includes campaigns in Hawaii, Argentina, Iceland and Saudi Arabia. He received his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh focusing on thermophysical mapping of dune fields and dust emission sources, and was a Smithsonian postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Earth and Planetary Research.
